Every month, Devote will give a percentage of our profits to a specific charity/ foundation that means something special to us. Each charity or foundation may be recognized and donated to multiple months in a row or duplicated throughout the year. We have so many foundations we would like to help, but also encourage suggestions!

December 2021

This month we are giving to Feeding America. As we embark on this holiday season, we know so many do not have the means to have a nice meal or nutritious meals. Feeding America works with local food banks and farmers, suppliers etc to get food to people in need.

Donating to this foundation will help contribute getting food to those facing hunger.

PAST MONTHS

NOVEMBER 2021

This month we are giving to the MDS Foundation. As mentioned in May, MDS is very close to my heart as my mother was diagnosed with MDS in April 2020 and unfortunately after a stem cell transplant, passed away in November 2020. To honor her, we are giving to this foundation.

Donating to this foundation will help contribute to innovative research for finding a cure for the disease and related diseases. The MDS Foundation also helps supports patients, caregivers, communities, families, and doctors, as well as educates.

UPDATE NOVEMBER 30, 2021: We are proud to have given to the MDS foundation for November. We also gave half of our sales from our Giving Tuesday orders to the foundation.

This month, we are giving to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as my mom always loved giving to them to help support research and help children live long and happy lives.

Giving to St. Jude will help pay for treatments and the medical expenses of the families going through tough times with a sick child. It will also help in the research to end childhood cancer.

Update September 1, 2021: We are happy to have given 30% of our profits to support St. Jude! Thank you again to all that support our small business and help give to something good.

JULY 2021

For our second "Devote Gives Back" we will be giving to the ALS Association. ALS/ Lou Gehrig’s Disease (or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain. 90% of cases are not genetic and most commonly people are diagnosed between the ages of 40 and 70, but could be diagnosed earlier. There are no current treatments that can cure ALS.

This month, the ALS Association is close to our hearts because it has a special meaning to one of our models, Sarah Trott. This is very close to Sarah's heart as she is advocate for the disease and is also a caregiver to her father who has ALS.

Giving will help assist people diagnosed with ALS and their families find care, support, resources, and research. Donations will also help the mission to discover more treatments and options for patients with ALS.

Update August 2nd 2021: Again, we are so thankful for all of you who have supported Devote and helped us donate to wonderful causes together! Today, we gave to the National ALS Association and the local San Diego chapter, as this is the specific chapter that is near Sarah.

MAY/JUNE 2021

Our first Foundation is the AA MDS International Foundation. AA (Aplastic Anemia) and MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) are both bone marrow failure disorders and blood cancers where the body no longer makes the adequate amount of normal blood cells. These are both rare diseases and very life threatening. There is no cure to both diseases unless having a bone or stem cell transplant.

From the Owner, Laura:

This foundation is very near to my heart because of my mom. My mother was actually a survivor of Aplastic Anemia, but after years of good health she was sadly diagnosed with MDS. Unfortunately, she passed away just 6.5 months after diagnosis. My mom never showed fear and never complained. She was the strongest woman I will ever know. It's my hope that the AA MDS International Foundation can help families in the future with more hope and opportunities for their loved ones.

Giving to this foundation will help research for cures, treatment, and help current patients and caregivers with support.

Update July 1, 2021: We are excited to share that we have donated over 20% of our first profits to the AA MDS International Foundation! Thank you for all of the support of our small business the past month so we are all able to help!
